噪音的定义:

户外使用的设备”是指1998年6月22日欧洲议会和理事会98/37/EC号指令第1（2）条中关于成员国法律类似的所有有关机械 (17)，

其可以是自行式的或者可以移动的，并且不管驱动元件（一个或多个）根据其类型在露天环境中使用，并对环境产生噪音影响。在声音传播过程中没有或没有明显影响的情况下（例如在帐篷下，在屋顶下防雨或在房屋内）使用设备，也被认为是在露天使用。这也意味着用于工业或环境应用的非动力设备，根据其类型，其用于户外使用，并有助于产生环境噪声。所有这些类型的设备在下文中被称为“设备”

欧盟强制要求粘贴噪音标志的35种产品清单:

The Directive applies to 57 types of equipment for use outdoors, which requires noise emission measurements to be taken and to fix labels showing the “guaranteed “ noise levels of each machine. In addition, the Directive sets noise limits for 22 of the 57 categories, for equipment subject to noise limits the involvement of a notified body will be required.

此指令适用于需采取噪音排放措施，及需在每台机械上均安装有显示其保证噪音水平标签的57种型号的户外设备。此外，该指令还为57种类型中的22种设定了噪音极限，对于有噪音极限的设备，还需有欧盟公告机构的参与。
